Abstract: The influence of brazing time on the shear strength of SiC/6061Al joints was carried out by scratching to break the oxide films on the matrix. The result shows when using 65.12Zn-20.82Al-12.05Cu-1.20Mg-0.17Mn, the shear strength of the joint is up to 70.8MPa; when using 93Zn-2.5Al-4.5Ag-0.15Si, the shear strength is up to 63.3MPa and when using 80Zn-Al, the shear strength is up to 49.2MPa. No matter what braze is used in these experiments, the shear strengths all improve with increasing brazing time.
