Abstract: The behavior and the micro-mechanism of high temperature compressive deformation were studied for 15%(volume fraction) Al2O3/6061Al composite at temperatures close to and above the solidus of the matrix. The results show that in the temperature range from 813K to 913K and strain rate range from 0.01s-1 to 0.5s-1, the compressive stress-strain curves can be divided into three stages, i.e. elastic deformation stage, work hardening stage and strain softening stage. The particle agglomeration is suppressed and the particle distribution is more homogeneous after deformation.
