Abstract: Acrylic acid-intercalated graphite oxide and poly acrylic acid (PAA)-intercalated graphite oxide were prepared and characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FTIR) and high resolution electronic microscope (HREM). Results show that the intercalation process is not only a physical diffusion process but also mainly a chemical reaction process. The high resolution electronic microscope results also reveal that the Ic value of PAA-intercalated graphite oxide (GO) could change widely from 1.6nm to 4.0nm.
