INTERFACE REACTION OF TiCp-REINFORCED Ti-MATRIX COMPOSITE
(Northwest Institute for Nonferrous Metal Research, Xi′an 710016)
Abstract: Interface reaction of TiCp-reinforced Ti-matrix composites has been studied. Degradation reaction of TiC and C atoms diffusing into matrix results in nonstoichiometric interface reaction layer forming around TiCp. Electron diffraction patterns prove that the interface layers are clean without other reaction products. The layers possess reciprocal character, and the interface width varies with process conditions.
