MATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF BUBBLE DRIVEN FLOWS IN A NOVEL ALUMINUM  ELECTROLYSIS CELL

Abstract: A mathematical model describing fluid flow stirred by the bubble in a novel aluminum electrolysis cell was presented. Based on SIMPLER algorithm, the turbulent momentum equations closed byk-ε model were solved. The regularities of bath circulations in a water model cell were obtained. The results showed that the flow rate in the lower compartment was much larger than that in the upper one, which was in agreement with the experimental data.
