Abstract: The effects of carburization on the mechanical properties and oxidation-resistance of TiAl based alloy have been investigated. It has been found that not only can the room temperature strength and ductility of TiAl based alloy be enhanced by carburizing treatment, but also its oxidation-resistance can be improved. The X-ray diffraction analysis shows that after carburized at 900℃ for 2h,a carburized layer has formed on the surface of sample and it consists of Al2Ti4C2 and Al2C3.
