Abstract: Copper is melted in a 300 kg low frequency furnace and continuously cast in a low frequency holding furnace to obtain dia.15 mm copper bar with smooth surface, no crack and oxide inclusion. The bar can be easily drawn from dia. 15mm to dia. 0.15 mm without process annealing. The total elongation is 99.99% and the oxygen composition is about 45 ppm. Besides above the formation mechanism of the continuous casting has been studied and the flow velocity and quantity of the copper liquid were calculated.
Key words: copper bar    horizontal continuous casting   mechanism.
