Abstract: Trailing peening technology is adopted to control the welding stress and distortion of titanium alloy thin plate. With the nonlinear finite element theory and analyzing software Marc, normal welding process and trailing peening welding process of titanium alloy thin plate are simulated, separately. In the process of simulation, the Gauss heat source is adopted under the condition of arc welding and the relatively accurate results are obtained. In addition, the experimental results of TC4 titanium alloy thin plate in the conventional welding and the trailing peening welding processes are obtained. The results of simulation and experiment shows that the trailing peening technology can reduce the welding residual stress obviously and the welding distortion can be controlled effectively.
